The overhead type can also be used as pole line secondary with service splices at the pole or mid span. Medium-Voltage Power Cable
General Cable’s extensive line of BICC® Brand EmPowr® copper and aluminum cables serve the total distribution needs of electric utilities, rural electrical co-ops and the public power market for both traditional and renewable energy resources. Designs are engineered with Tree Retardant Cross-linked Polyethylene (TRXLPE) insulation. Cables are available with various metallic shields that include helically applied copper wire with and without a non-metallic tape, as well as a flat thick copper tape helically applied. Combinations of water swellable tapes and powders applied between the insulation shield and jacket provides maximum moisture migration protection.

High-Voltage Power Cable
General Cable's underground transmission class, High Voltage (HV) Power Cables, PowrMax® are manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest requirements of AEIC, IEC or specific user requirements as applicable. Cables are available with XLPE or EPR insulations, and in copper and aluminum conductor. High Voltage PowrMax cables are manufactured under "Clean Room" conditions to assure that cables meet the highest standards for reliability and long life.

General Cable's TransPowr® bare aluminum overhead cables are available in numerous combinations of aluminum and steel strands and layers. To complement the diverse line of bare overhead conductors that General Cable manufactures, we also offer BICC® Brand TransPowr® TW, trapezoidal overhead conductors that maximize efficiency in transmission line design.
Our new TransPowr® ACCC/TW aerial high-density transmission cables feature innovative composite core construction. TransPowr® ACCC/TW is a marriage of General Cable’s TransPowr® ACSS/TW conductor and Composite Technology Corporation’s Carbon and Glass Fiber pultrusion technology. Together these two technologies create the transmission and distribution conductor of the future.
